Bhubaneswar: In a delight for wildlife enthusiasts and tourists, the Bhitarkanika National Park, a renowned habitat of saltwater crocodiles, will reopen its gates on August 1 after a two-month closure.
According to sources, the national park was shut down from May 1 to July 31 to facilitate the breeding of crocodiles. With the breeding season coming to an end, the park authorities have announced the reopening of the park, much to the excitement of nature lovers.
However, the major attraction of the park will be the ‘Sky Walk’ or ‘Walkway’ which is introduced to offer a thrilling experience to visitors. The elevated walkway will provide a bird’s-eye view of the park’s flora and fauna, making it a must-visit for adventure seekers,
This move is expected to boost eco-tourism in the region and provide a thrilling experience for visitors to Bhitarkanika National Park, said sources.
In a bid to enhance the visitor experience, the Forest Department has constructed a walkway through the natural surroundings of Dangamala, a crocodile breeding centre. The 600-meter-long walkway, made of wood, starts from the Mangrove Metta Nursery and offers a unique opportunity for tourists to immerse themselves in nature.
Keeping the safety of passengers in mind, only 20 tourists will be allowed on the walkway at a time.
