Mayurbhanj: Similipal Tiger Protection Force personnel raided the house of one Lankan Badra (62) of Makabadi village and seized several wildlife items on Sunday following a tip-off. Badra was arrested subsequently. The raid was undertaken by a team from the Nawana North WL Range and Barehipani WL Range.
The team recovered a leopard skull with part of a vertebral column, three snares and nine arrows from Lanka’s possession.
During interrogation by the investigating Officer, Badra revealed the detailed process of poaching wild animals and recreated the crime scene inside compartment No P17 under Nawana South WL Range. The investigating officer seized some bones from the crime scene. Further, the accused led to the discovery of the weapons used in the crime from his house at Makabadi. The team seized dry meat, three snares, one skull of barking deer with antler, one axe, one bill hook, poison, and gunny bags from his house during the second search.
A case has been registered under the Nawana North WL Range and further investigation is underway.
