Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, 16 Kanwariya pilgrims were injured after the vehicle carrying them overturned on NH 53 near Samal Chowk, under the Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district, today.
According to reports, the vehicle carrying Kanwariyas was headed to the Daudeswar Temple in Karamul, Dhenkanal, for the Jalabhishek ritual when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn near Samal Chowk.
The mishap left all 16 Kanwariya pilgrims injured, with one sustaining critical injuries.
All the injured Kanwariyas were immediately rushed to the Bhuban Community Health Centre by police officials, where they received first-hand treatment. Out of the injured Kanwariyas, more than five were sent to Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
Whereas, one critically injured Kanwariya was forwarded to Cuttack Hospital with the help of MLA Kamakhyanagar Satrughan Jena.
The police after seizing the accidental vehicle, have started an investigation into the matter.
