Balasore: Soro police arrested a person on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl in the Balibada area under the Soro police limits in August 2023.
The accused identified as Lipu Mallick, a resident of Baulagadia village under Nilagiri police jurisdiction has been forwarded to court.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Soro police had registered a case in this connection and launched a manhunt to nab Lipu who was absconding after the matter came to the fore.
On Tuesday night, police came to know about Lipu’s whereabouts, raided Lipu’s house and arrested him. He will be forwarded to Posco court after he undergoes a medical examination, sources said.
