Balasore: The charred bodies of a couple, who had been missing since Tuesday, were recovered from Jatpada forest in Devagiri Hills in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Khuntia Majhi (45) and his second wife Parvati Murmu (42), residents of Mangalpur village under Soro police limits. Khuntia’s daughter identified the bodies.
According to reports, Khuntia and Parvati have been missing since Tuesday. Locals who had gone to the forest to graze their goats in the forest on Wednesday saw the charred bodies of both the couple on the Devagiri hills and informed the police.
On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the bodies, and launched an investigation into the matter. The cause of the deaths is yet to be ascertained, police said.
