CM Majhi Announces Rs 4 Lakh Ex-Gratia For Kin Of Minor Killed In Berhampur Drain

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed for payment of Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to the next of kin of the minor boy who was swept away in a nullah in Berhampur, said a post on CMO Odisha X handle.

Majhi while expressing deep grief over the death of the minor boy has extended his deep sympathies to the bereaved family.

Notably, Sairam Patra, an 11-year-old boy on Wednesday died after falling in an open drain at Laxminrusingh Sahi under Bada Bazar police limits in Berhampur.

Sairam was returning home after attending tuition on his bicycle when he fell into an overflowing drain.

After hours of search, his body was recovered from the drain at around 2:00am in the wee hours of Thursday.
