Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance Confiscation Court in Bhubaneswar has ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets worth over Rs 5.86 crore belonging to Subash Chandra Mishra, a former engineer of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The confiscated assets include two double-storeyed buildings, one single-storeyed building, and three plots in Bhubaneswar and Bhimpur, bank and insurance deposits, investments in shares, and gold ornaments weighing over 2.5 kg.
Mishra was earlier charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under the Prevention of Corruption Act for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The investigation, led by Trinath Patel, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Cell Division, revealed a significant discrepancy between Mishra’s income and his assets, leading to the confiscation order.
The Odisha Vigilance Directorate had moved the authorized officer of the Confiscation Court for the confiscation of the assets, which was granted after a thorough hearing. Manas Ranjan Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor, represented the Odisha Vigilance in the case.
