Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in Singewar village under Balugan police limits in Khurdha, where a 10-year-old girl, Rupali Barik, succumbed to a snakebite, while her 8-year-old brother Ayush Barik, remains critical.

According to reports, Chakradhar Barik, his wife, and two minor children were asleep in their home when the incident occurred. A snake bit Rupali and Ayush while they slept on the floor.

At 4 am, Rupali woke up complaining of vomiting and nausea, only to suddenly collapse. Her family then discovered a snakebite scar on her hand and suspected Ayush had also been bitten. They swiftly took both children to Balugan Health Centre, where they were referred to Berhampur MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

Upon examination, doctors confirmed the snakebite. Tragically, Rupali passed away during treatment, while Ayush remains in ICU, fighting for his life.
