Sundargarh: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a young man was killed in an elephant attack in Kulukuta village under Bannai Range in Odisha’s Sundergarh district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Gobind Munda of Kulukuta village.

According to reports, after some pachyderms from Bannai Range entered Kulukuta village in search of food on Tuesday, Forest department staff and local villager were driving them back to the forest. Suddenly, one elephant attacked Gobind and he died on the spot. The elephant grabbed Gobind with its trunk and violently slammed him to the ground in front of the villagers.

Forest department officials rushed Gobind to a nearby health center but the doctors attending on him there pronounced him brought dead.

While villagers in the region are mostly remaining indoors and spending sleepless nights for fear of elephant attacks, Gobind’s death has triggered panic in the area.
