Balasore: Rakesh Jena, a tea seller in Sahi village in Odisha’s Balasore district put an end to his life by hanging from the ceiling from his house on Tuesday.
According to reports, Rakesh was selling tea in Soro and took a home loan on his wife’s name to start a business. He invested the entire loan amount in DJ business three months ago. However, as the government has banned the use of DJs during festivities, he suffered huge losses. Consequently, he was unable to repay the loan installments and was under the burden of increasing debt.
Rakesh had a violent argument with his wife after he returned home on Monday evening and went to sleep in a separate room. Early this morning, the family found Rakesh hanging from the ceiling fan in his room. As the door of his room was locked from inside, neighbours rescued him after breaking open the door. He was rushed to the Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) where the doctors pronounced him ‘brought dead’.
On being informed, police reached the hospital and sent the body for an autopsy. Later, the body was handed over to the family members. The police have started an investigation into the incident.
