Dhenkanal Gang-Rape: SCW Chief Meets Victim, Directs SP To File Chargesheet In 15 Days

Bhubaneswar: The State Commission for Women (SCW) has directed the district Superintendent of Police (SP) to file a chargesheet within 15 days.

SCW Chairperson Minati Behera stated, “We have spoken to the SP and directed him to investigate the case thoroughly. We are ensuring adequate compensation for the victim to live with dignity. All measures will be taken to punish the culprits.”

Dhenkanal Additional SP Suryamani Pradhan assured that the matter is being investigated seriously and under direct supervision of the SP.

The SCW had taken suo-motto cognisance of the case, ordering Dhenkanal SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat to expedite the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Earlier, Deputy CM Pravati Parida had spoken to Dhenkanal SP, directing stringent action against the culprits. In response, the SP had assured a fast-track court trial and speedy submission of the chargesheet.

The police, meanwhile, arrested fifth accused in the case. Efforts are on to nab others involved in the crime, police said.

The incident occurred at Mahulapunji village, and the police are working to prosecute the accused in a fast-track court, ensuring a swift trial.
