Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Basudevpur in Bhadrak after an iron-laden truck ran over a group of bulls sleeping on the roadside, killing eight of them on the spot.
The accident took place last night when the truck driver lost control over the vehicle resulting in the tragic death of bulls.
Irate over it, locals blocked the road demanding a ban on the plying of commercial vehicles on that road and the construction of a permanent cow shelter.
The protesters set tyres on fire, causing a traffic jam on both sides of the road.
On a tip-off, police reached the spot and pacified the agitated crowd.
