Bhubaneswar: A man died and four others sustained serious injuries following an attack by a swarm of bees in a forest at Batiapada village under Bijepur police limits in Kalahandi district on Sunday.
The incident occurred in a Titing Jharan forest near Batiapada when five persons were collecting fire wood. A swarm of wild bees attacked them leaving them seriously injured. Suddenly, the bees attacked them and they could not find any shelter to save themselves.
All were admitted to the nearby Bengaon Health Center in critical condition. One of them died during treatment while others are undergoing treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Burja Majhi. Police have seized the body and sent it for autopsy.
