Sambalpur: A woman died while two others were injured in a lightning strike in Duki village under the Jujumura block of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Monday afternoon. The deceased woman has been identified as Lalitha Bhoi, while the injured are Savitri Suhula and Padmini Rana.
According to reports, Lalitha, Savitri and Padmini had gone to an agricultural field in the village to collect grass for fodder on Monday morning. Around 1:30 pm, there was thunder and lightning and the three women fell unconscious after lightning struck them.
Hearing the sound of thunder, another woman, Jyotshna, rushed to save the three women and with great difficulty she took Lalitha, Savitri and Padmini out of the field. Local villagers rescued the three women after they were alerted by Jyotshna.
The villagers took the three seriously injured women to Jujumura village health center where the doctor pronounced Lalita Behera dead. The condition of Padmini’s is said to be normal, while Savitri has been shifted to Sambalpur for further treatment.
