Bargarh: Bargarh Town police have seized a massive 4475 bottles of banned cough syrup on Monday and arrested 17 persons in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, police seized 4,475 bottles of banned cough syrup on Bargarh-Bheden road, while it was being transported from Kolkata in a pick-up truck and an SUV for sale in Bargarh area. Police have arrested 17 persons involved in the trafficking of the contraband.
“In this raid we have seized 4475 bottles of Escuf-Corex cough syrup packed in 30 cartons. We have also seized a pick-up and a Maruti-Ertiga vehicle which was loaded with the contraband. We have arrested a total of 17 persons who include peddlers and the four men transporting the contraband. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the contraband was coming from Kolkata,” informed Prahlad Sahay Meena, SP, Bargarh briefing media persons after the seizure.
