Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman died after falling into a well at 119 Colony of Malkangiri Town in Odisha on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Padmaja Pattanaik.
According to reports, Padmaja had gone to fetch water from an abandoned well near her house on Wednesday night. However, she was unable to see properly in the dark and fell into the well. Hearing her cries for help, her neighbours informed the Fire Services department about the incident.
Fire Services personnel reached the spot and fished out the woman’s body from the well.
However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the woman accidentally fell into the well or she intentionally jumped into it. On being informed, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
