Sambalpur: A container drive was burnt alive, while the helper of the vehicle sustained critical burn injuries after the vehicle caught fire in a collision with a truck near Kadalipala area under Jamankira police limits on National Highway No 53 in Kuchinda around 7.00 pm on Sunday.
The deceased container driver has been identified as Rehman Khan, while the helper of the vehicle has been admitted to the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
According to reports, the mishap occurred when the container and truck collided head-on and the vehicles caught fire under the impact of the collision.
After the accident, traffic has come to a standstill on the national highway due to the burning truck and container on the road. Hundreds of vehicles on both sides of the NH are stuck for a long time. Fire Services personnel are trying to bring the inferno under control.
