Former MLA Prakash Behera Quits BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former MLA Prakash Behera resigned from the primary membership of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday.

Behera sent his resignation letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik.

Behera had contested on a BJD ticket from Cuttack Barabati Assembly constituency during the last general elections.

He had joined the BJD after quitting BJP in April this year and was given a ticket by the BJD to contest from Cuttack Barabati Assembly seat.

Behera had successfully contested the 2014 Assembly polls from Salipur constituency on Congress ticket.

In 2019, he left Congress and joined the BJP.

He also contested from the very constituency that year on BJP ticket but lost to BJD’s Prashant Behera.
