Bhubaneswar: The Balliguda police on Sunday arrested the girl involved in the acid attack on her father and brother in Kundeli village under Tumudibandh police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.
The victims have been identified as Mohan Pandar and his son, Anuj Pandar. Mohan’s daughter, Puspanjali Pandar, allegedly carried out this heart-wrenching act with her boyfriend, Bijya Majhi.
According to reports, Puspanjali and Bijya had been in love for some time, but Mohan did not approve of their relationship. Bijya suspected that Mohan was responsible for his mother’s recent death, believing that he had used black magic on her. This led them to conspire to attack Mohan as an act of revenge.
Bijya brought acid from Kolkata and gave it to Puspanjali. As per their plan, she poured acid on her sleeping father and brother, Anuj.
After investigating, the police arrested Puspanjali and Bijya on Sunday. Balliguda sub-divisional police officer, Kamal Kumar Panda, confirmed that the accused have confessed their crime.
“Puspanjali and Bijya were planning to attack Mohan Pandar, and both have confessed to their crime. We have arrested them in connection with this incident and seized the remaining acid from Puspanjali,” said SDPO Kamal Kumar Panda.
Meanwhile, Mohan and Anuj have been admitted to Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition.
