Balasore: With Cyclone Dana likely to make landfall between Odisha’s Puri, and West Bengal’s Sagar Island between Thursday night and Friday morning as a severe cyclonic storm, Balasore Collector Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas conducted inspections of cyclone shelters in various coastal panchayats in Soro and Bahanga blocks.
The Collector visited the low-lying panchayats of Tentei, Pakhar, Anantapur, Guda, and Kharasahapur in Soro block, as well as Avana, Bishnupur, Rupkhand, and Barajadeuli panchayats in Bahanga block. Arrangements have been made for the evacuation of residents to safer locations, with provisions for cooked food where necessary.
Collector Vikas directed local Block Development Officers (BDOs), Tahasildars, sarpanches, and other local representatives to stay alert. Additionally, officials from the Energy and Drinking Water departments inspected cyclone shelters in the same areas to ensure readiness.
