Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a review meeting on preparation for tackling Cyclone Dana and post restoration. The review meeting was held at the DGP’s camp office here on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on the projected path of Cyclone Dana, precautionary measures, and arrangements to be put in place.
The state government has set a target of ‘Zero Casualty’, and DGP Khurania emphasized this goal, directing the Superintendents of Police (SPs) from all districts to make every effort to ensure it is met.
During the review, DGP Khurania instructed all SPs to deploy police forces at cyclone shelters, raise awareness through Marine Police in coastal areas, facilitate the rescue of people from vulnerable coastal regions, and strategically deploy Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams and safeguard lives and property.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, IG (Communication) Satish Gajbhiye, Additional Commissioner of Police Uma Shankar Dash, and DCP Pinak Mishra.
Additionally, DIG (Southern), DIG (Eastern), and the SPs of Ganjam, Berhampur, Khordha, Puri, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj participated via video conferencing.
