Bhubaneswar/Jharsuguda: A high alert was issued at both Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSA) in Jharsuguda following bomb threat calls on Thursday.
In response to the threats, airport authorities at both locations intensified security measures, deploying dog squads and bomb disposal units at BPIA.
BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan informed the media that a non-specific bomb threat had been received, which was later confirmed as a hoax after thorough security checks. Pradhan assured that all necessary safety protocols were being followed.
Similarly, VSSA Director Sandip Kumar Tiwari stated that after a bomb threat regarding an Indigo flight from Bengaluru to Jharsuguda surfaced on social media, a comprehensive security inspection was carried out. Following clearance, the aircraft has been authorized to proceed with its return flight to Bengaluru.
