Bhubaneswar: In the wake of Cyclone Dana, power infrastructure has sustained extensive damage in Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur districts.
According to an official press release from office of the Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, DISCOMs (power distribution companies) have mobilized manpower and resources immediately following the cyclone, aiming to restore power to affected areas.
As of 2 PM, power restoration efforts were in progress for nearly one million consumers, with 90% restoration expected by tonight.
Out of 106 affected 33KV feeders, 72 have been restored. Of the 201 impacted primary substations, 116 are now operational, while 504 of the 909 affected 11KV feeders have been brought back online.
Out of 80,135 impacted distribution transformers, 39,903 have been restored, resulting in power restoration for over 1.14 million consumers.
Officials reported that the work is being carried out on a war footing, with a focus on swiftly restoring essential services to affected communities.
