Bhubaneswar: A 58-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in Jajpur district’s Bari police station area.
The minor victim’s condition is critical, and she has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital’s ICU in Cuttack.
According to the girl’s family, the incident occurred on October 23. The accused, a neighbour of the victim, runs a farm. He allegedly lured the girl with temptation, sexually assaulted her, and threatened her not to narrate the matter before anyone.
After the minor’s health deteriorated, she was initially taken to a local hospital, then shifted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital. Due to worsening conditions, she was referred to Cuttack. Initially, police detained some of the accused’s family members.
