Talcher Tehsildar Falls Prey To Cyber Fraud, Duped Of Rs 90K

Bhubaneswar: Rosalin Behera, Tehsildar of Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district, reportedly fell prey to cyber crime and lost Rs 90,000 in the process.

Despite the repeated alerts and awareness campaigns by various government agencies, people continue to fall prey to online fraud. Behera fell victim to an online scam after receiving a deceptive message on her mobile phone from an unknown number.

According to reports, Behera clicked on a suspicious link embedded in the message allowing fraudsters access to her bank account. Shortly after, a notification from her bank confirmed that Rs 90,000 had been debited from her account.

Following the incident, Behera filed a complaint at the Talcher police station and an investigation is underway to trace the culprits.
