Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara district authorities have removed Derabish CDPO Snehalata Sahoo from her post following allegations that her negligence led to the miscarriage of a woman clerk in her office.
The state government has also directed Kendrapara District Collector Smruti Ranjan Pradhan to institute an independent and speedy inquiry into the incident. The authorities said they would initiate further action after they receive the inquiry report.
It is worth mentioning here that Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Women & Child Development, Pravati Parida, on Tuesday sought a detailed report in this regard from Kendrapara Collector.
Parida also personally spoke with Barsha Priyadarshini Mohapatra, a clerk in the CDPO Derabish office, to express her condolences over the tragedy.
Mohapatra, who was seven months pregnant, developed labour pain and requested permission from the Derabish CDPO to leave for the hospital. However, the CPDO allegedly denied her permission, despite Mohapatra’s urgent need for medical attention. Eventually, she delivered a stillborn baby.
