Bhubaneswar: The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district reopened for tourists today after remaining closed since June 15 due to the monsoon season.

The sanctuary, spread over 272.75 square kilometres, is home to various wildlife species, including elephants, tigers, leopards, sambar, deer, wild boar, and numerous bird species.
To attract tourists, the forest department has made elaborate arrangements, including the opening of Risia nature camp, which offers night stays in nine eco-friendly cottages. The night stay at the Risia Nature Camp has been priced at ₹3,854.

Tourists can book their stays online through the website ecotourodisha.com. The sanctuary remains open from 9:30 am to 5 pm, with entry fees set at ₹40 per person, ₹50 for cameras, and ₹100 for four-wheeler vehicles.

On the other hand, strict restrictions have been imposed on the consumption of intoxicating substances.

In a bid to prevent wildlife from venturing into human settlements, trenches have been dug around the perimeter.

Tourists can stay overnight and enjoy the thrill of exploring the surroundings while spotting wildlife from four artificial salt pits and five watchtowers to facilitate wildlife spotting at this sanctuary, said a forest department official.

With its rich biodiversity and natural beauty, Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary is expected to attract a large number of tourists this season.
