Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented a slew of proposals aimed at enhancing promotion and understanding of the Hindi language in the State at the 32nd meeting of the Central Hindi Committee held in New Delhi on Monday.
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the need to establish specialized Hindi educational institutions in Odisha to train Hindi teachers and support the growth of Hindi literature.
He explained that dedicated institutions would help produce more qualified Hindi educators and contribute to the state’s language development.
Majhi also proposed the establishment of an Odia-Hindi Translation Centre, with financial backing from the Department of Official Language of the Union Government, to facilitate the translation of original literary and other significant works between the two languages.
This initiative, he emphasized, would enhance mutual understanding and preserve the cultural richness of both Hindi and Odia literature.
To further strengthen the literary and cultural bond between Hindi and Odia speakers, the Chief Minister suggested organizing more cultural exchange programs.
He envisioned national and state-level events where poets, writers, and intellectuals from various regions could come together to foster literary and cultural ties.
Majhi recommended setting up an Inter-Language Research Institute in Odisha dedicated to studying and researching both Hindi and Odia. The institute would aim to devise plans for the mutual growth and development of the languages. Additionally, he requested for central grants and assistance for the resources required to teach Hindi effectively within the education system in Odisha.
The Chief Minister also urged special grants for ongoing state schemes and institutions focused on the advancement of Hindi literature.
Majhi’s proposals reflect Odisha’s commitment to promoting Hindi while also enhancing inter-linguistic and cultural collaboration between Hindi and Odia speakers.
The 32nd meeting of the Central Hindi Committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah was attended by Union Health Minister J P Nadda, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Cuttack MP Bhatruhari Mahatab, and other dignitaries.
