Bhubaneswar: Delhi Police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the rape of a woman from Odisha in the national capital on the intervening night of October 10 and October 11, informed Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday in New Delhi.
After reaching New Delhi, CM Majhi made this statement. He said: “Three persons have been arrested in connection with the rape case. Police also seized an auto-rickshaw used in the crime. Delhi Police have been asked to conduct further probe into the incident.”
Notably, the Chief Minister left for New Delhi on a two-day tour today.
It is pertinent to mention that a 34-year-old nursing graduate from Odisha was allegedly raped by unknown individuals on the night of October 10-11. She was dumped and left to writhe in pain in a semi-conscious state in the Sarai Kale Khan area. Fortunately, a police team rescued her and rushed her to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.
Delhi Police had registered a case against unknown miscreants under sections 70(1) [gang rape] and 115(2) [voluntarily causing hurt] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Earlier, the Chief Minister had earlier reviewed the progress of the investigation by Delhi Police. He had also enquired about the health condition of the victim.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding justice for the victim.
