Bhubaneswar: Two tribal persons of Kandhamal, who are undergoing treatment following organ failure due to consumption of mango kernel, are showing signs of improvement at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
“Both the patients of poisoning have shown signs of improvement today. Jita Majhi is conscious and able to talk and interact,” said Prof Jayant Panda, head of the Department of Medicine.
Today’s reports also have shown improvement. Both the patients are still in multi-organ failure and slowly responding to the treatment, Panda added.
Two persons died while six fell seriously ill after eating mango kernel gruel in Mandipanka village near Daringbadi in Kandhamal district. Out of six, two critically ill persons are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
CM Mohan Majhi today ordered an inquiry by RDC, the southern division into the death of tribal persons due to the consumption of mango kernel gruel.
