Bhubaneswar: To curb reckless driving, the speed limit of “Mo Bus” vehicles will be reduced to 40 km per hour, with speed governors installed in each vehicle, announced Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra on Wednesday.

According to the Minister, Mo Bus vehicles will be restricted to a speed below 40 km per hour, with strict action taken against any violations. If the buses are traveling outside city limits, the speed will be capped at 50 km per hour.

The Minister further stated that drivers will undergo alcohol tests before beginning their shifts, as well as random tests during operations. “I have directed officials to ensure the speed limit of Mo Bus remains within 40 km per hour in the city. If the vehicle is operating outside the city, the speed will be limited to 50 km per hour,” Mohapatra explained.

He added that speed governors will be installed and regularly checked. Additionally, driver license checks will be conducted.

“We are implementing alcohol tests for drivers before they enter the bus, along with random checks throughout their shifts. These measures will be enforced immediately,” he noted.
