Five Students Of Keonjhar Govt Engg College Arrested For Ragging

Bhubaneswar: Five senior students of the Government College of Engineering in Keonjhar were arrested and rusticated from the college for one year for allegedly ragging a junior student on the campus.

They allegedly assaulted a second-year mining student. The critically injured student is undergoing treatment at District Headquarters Hospital. The parents of the junior student filed a complaint with the police.

Following the complaint, college authorities rusticated them after an internal investigation. Today, Keonjhar town police arrested them.

The victim has been identified as Biswajit Behera, a second-year mining student.

According to Biswajit’s complaint, the incident occurred around 2:30 am when the seniors broke into his hostel room after he refused to open the door. The seniors then brutally assaulted him with rods and sticks, leaving him critically injured.
