Bhubaneswar: People affected by cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ will receive compensation from the state government, which has sent an initial aid package of Rs 423.05 crore to the affected districts.

This assistance is being provided by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management. The concerned district administration will distribute the funds to those in need.

The breakdown of the aid package includes Rs 8292 lakh for crop loss, Rs 948 lakh for house damage, and Rs 29,347 lakh for damage to public properties.

According to Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, preliminary estimates suggest the total loss is around Rs 600 crore.

The worst-hit districts are Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara, while Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack have also been affected. In total, 131 blocks across 14 districts have been impacted, with 41 lakh people from 11,637 villages affected. The storm has also damaged 16,417 houses, with 27 completely destroyed and 14,680 partially damaged.

Minister Pujari has assured that the state government will compensate those whose houses and crops have been affected, with provisions in place to provide housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for those who have lost their homes.
