Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to curb Maoist violence, Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania has devised a comprehensive plan to intensify anti-Naxal operations in Kandhamal district. Upon arrival, Khurania engaged in detailed discussions with local police and administrative officials to strengthen security measures.
A closed-door meeting was held with top officials, including SPs from Rayagada, Boudh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, BSF, CRPF, and Intelligence Bureau, to strategize against Maoist groups, particularly KKBN and BGN, active in the region. The police have tightened security arrangements in Kandhamal.
The move comes as Maoists, driven out of Chhattisgarh, seek refuge in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The State police have vowed to eliminate Maoist violence, converting the area into a Maoist-free zone. Top IPS officers, including Amit Kumar, AN Sinha, and JN Pankaj, along with District Collector, DFO, and Boudh Sub-Collector, participated in the crucial meeting.
