Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a person was killed and two others injured while they were returning from a festival on a bike at Tikarpadar Ghati area under Phiringia police limits in Kandhamal district, on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Kanti Banka (12), a resident of Pidihakuti village near Phiringia while injured persons were Sanatan Kandar from Bandania village and Manas Mallik from Dangaripadar village.
According to reports, the three were on their way back home after attending the Rasa Jatra festival in Sadingia village. The bike on which they were travelling together lost control and rammed into a tree on Sadingia-Badadani road in Tikarpadar Ghati.
Locals rushed to the scene after hearing a loud noise and shifted the victims to Phiringia Community Health Centre in an auto-rickshaw. However, doctors declared Kanti Banka dead.
Police rushed to the health centre following a tip-off and seized the body for post-mortem. The autopsy will be conducted at district headquarters hospital. The body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem, said Phiringia police officer Gopinath Pradhan.
