Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated Odisha Hockey team for winning historic gold medal at at the 14th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship 2024.
Odisha was playing against Haryana at Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai.
Taking to ‘X’, Majhi expressed happiness, stating that the victory will inspire future generations of hockey in Odisha.
“Congratulations to the Odisha Hockey team on winning their historic first-ever gold medal at the 14th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship 2024. Their impressive victory over Hockey Haryana today represents a major milestone for the team and will undoubtedly inspire future generations of hockey players in the state,” he wrote on X.
Hockey Odisha bagged the title after defeating defending champions Hockey Haryana 5-1 in a thrilling final to claim the championship title at the 14th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship.
This is Odisha’s maiden title triumph in the Senior National Men’s Hockey Championship. It had not won the title in the pre-Hockey India times too with the likes of Railways, Punjab, Railways, and Services dominating the competition.
