Bhubaneswar: The Government of India on Monday announced the appointment of K Sanjay Murthy as the next Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India.
Murthy, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, will succeed Girish Chandra Murmu.
Currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, Murthy will assume the role after Girish Chandra Murmu completes his tenure on November 20, 2024.
A notification issued by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, stated: “By virtue of the power vested in her by clause (1) of Article 148 of the Constitution of India, the President has been pleased to appoint K Sanjay Murthy as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, effective from the date he assumes charge of his office.”
Murmu, who took charge as CAG on August 8, 2020, will step down upon completing his term later this month.
