Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Forest department has suspended three field officials holding them responsible for the death of three elephants, including a calf, due to electrocution near Buramal in Sambalpur’s Naktideul forest range on Sunday. In addition, the department has recommended that the government takes stern action against two senior officials.
The action comes after Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed concern over the death of the elephants in Odisha.
The Forest department has already arrested three field officials. The Forest department has sought the help of the local police to nab the fourth accused.
It is worth mentioning here that the three elephants were killed after they came in contact with a live electric trap allegedly laid by poachers to hunt wild boars on Sunday night.
