Bhadrak: A farmer died after coming in contact with a live electric fence in Korua village under Dhusuri police station in Bhadrak district, on Monday.
The deceased identified as Buddhiram Behera had gone to his paddy field after having lunch around 3 pm yesterday to inspect his crops. Unfortunately, his legs slipped and accidentally he touched the electric fence, which was erected at his neighbouring paddy field to protect the crop from stray animals.
The fence was allegedly connected to a live electrical wire which led to the instant electrocution of Buddhiaram. His family made a frantic search for him when he didn’t return home and later found him lying unconscious in his paddy field.
Buddhiram was rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased farmer’s son, Dhusuri police have detained the person responsible for installing the electric fence and are investigating the matter.
