Bhubaneswar: Two persons reportedly died after consuming suspected spurious liquor at Shirasta village under Tirtol police limits, on Wednesday.
The deaths are believed to be caused by food poisoning caused by liquor consumption, but the exact cause will be determined after the autopsy report is out.
The deceased have been identified as Bibhuti Samal and his uncle Gopabandhu Samal, residents of Shirasta village.
According to their family members, the duo complained of chest and stomach pain after consuming dinner with alcohol last night. They were initially admitted to Patkura Community Health Centre.
As their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, both the bodies have been sent for autopsy. Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of death.
