Odisha Governor Extends Tenure Of Three Varsity Vice-Chancellors

Bhubaneswar: The Governor, who serves as the Chancellor of Universities, on Thursday extended the tenure of vice-chancellors of three universities such as Gangadhar Meher University, Utkal University, and Rama Devi Women’s University.

The extension is for six months from the date of completion of their tenure or until new vice-chancellors join, whichever comes first.

A notification in this regard has been issued from Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar today. As per the notification, the tenure of vice-chancellors (VCs) of Gangadhar Meher University, Utkal University and Rama Devi Women’s University has been extended for six months from the date of completion of their tenure or till joining of the new VCs, whichever is earlier.

According to sources, three vice-chancellors are nearing retirement. Professor Nagaraju of Gangadhar Meher University retires on November 26. Professor Sabita Acharya of Utkal University retires on November 23 while Professor Aparajita Chowdhury of Rama Devi Women’s University retires on November 25.

The vice-chancellors of Utkal University, Fakir Mohan University, Gangadhar Meher University, Khallikote Unitary University and Rama Devi Women’s University would remain in office till November 30, the notification from the Governor’s office stated.
