CHSE Plus 2 Exams: Students Will Need To Score 24 Marks To Pass In Theory Papers

Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Odisha on Friday announced new exam and evaluation patterns for the Plus-2 exams 2024 scheduled for February 2025.

According to a notification issued by the CHSE on Friday, the pass mark for each theory paper without any practical is 24. A candidate can pass the theory subject with a full mark of 80 by securing only 24 in the written examination. However, another 20 marks will be evaluated through internal assessment.

Apart from this, the question papers will comprise 20 marks of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). It was seen earlier that children could not score well in the exam pressure even though they studied well. Keeping this in mind, the marking format has also been changed in the question paper format. This time, instead of long questions, short questions will be asked. Instead of 10-mark questions, there will be 7-mark questions. The Higher Secondary Education Council decided on this change last August.

Underlining the new pattern of exams and evaluation methodology, the Controller of CHSE Prasant Parida said that the council is revising the evaluation and mark distribution system for higher secondary students for the first time.

It would support the average student for its student-centric approach and boost the average pass rate, Parida added.

A total of 3,91,809 students are likely to appear for the CHSE higher secondary exam.
