Nuapada: The Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Jonk police station in Odisha’s Nuapada district, Gurudeba Karmi, has been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty.
The action comes in the wake of the police busting a gambling racket and arresting over 80 people in lkobeda village on Saturday night.
As per an official notification issued by the DGP, during the period of his suspension, the Jonk police station IIC will remain under the disciplinary control of DIG of Police, SWR, Koraput. He will draw the SA and DA as admissible under Rule 90 of Orissa Service Code.
According to reports, the police raided a gambling den and seized cash to the tune of Rs 50 lakh, 25 cars and over 10 motorcycles.
The gambling den was operating for several months in a house near cowshed.
