It is pertinent to mention that the snatching incident occurred on November 13 when the victim Bishnu was travelling to Harirajpur’s Somanath Temple from Bhubaneswar with her husband on a bike. It was when two bike-borne miscreants chased them and attempted to snatch Bishnu’s gold chain but failed due to its thickness. Undeterred, they followed the couple again, attacking Bishnu in their bid to steal the chain.
Bishnu suffered deep gashes on her head as she fell from the vehicle. However, her courage startled the attackers, who were forced to retreat after she raised an alarm, chasing them away from the scene. Bishnu was rushed to a nearby hospital. She, however, succumbed to her injuries after battling for three days in the hospital.
