Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (EC) on Tuesday announced the schedule for Rajya Sabha bypolls in four states including Odisha.
Other States are West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana.
The by-elections are necessitated following the resignations of sitting members.
The members who resigned from the Upper House are Venkataramana Mopidevi (Andhra Pradesh), Beedha Masthan Rao Yadav (Andhra Pradesh), Ryaga Krishnaiah (Andhra Pradesh), Sujeet Kumar (Odisha), Jawahar Sircar (West Bengal) and Krishan Lal Panwar (Haryana).
According to the EC, the elections will be conducted on December 20 while counting will be held on the same day.
Voting will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on December 20.
The official notification would be issued on December 3. The last date for filing of nomination is December 10 while scrutiny will take place on December 11.
