Cuttack: Tuni Majhi of Kandhamal, who fell seriously ill after consuming mango kernel, was discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital today after recovering.
She was admitted to the hospital on November 3 and was treated in the ICU for multi-organ failure. Tuni underwent dialysis 10 times during her treatment.
According to Prof Jayant Panda, Head of the Department of Medicine, Tuni gradually recovered and was discharged from the hospital. A special medical team led by Dr. Jayant Panda and Dr. Sushant Kumar Jena of the Hepatology Department treated her.
Tuni’s brother thanked the doctors for their treatment. Tuni herself vowed never to eat mango kernel again. Unfortunately, this incident caused panic in Mandipanka village, and several people lost their lives after consuming mango kernels.
Eight women fell seriously ill due to food poisoning after consuming mango kernel at Mandipanka village of Kandhamal. Three of them died while others recovered after treatment.
