Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced Hindi film ‘The Sabarmati Report’ ‘tax free’ in the state. The movie was based on the train burning incident at Godhra in Gujarat in 2002.

Before Odisha, Six BJP-ruled States Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat declared the Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna’s film free from entertainment tax.

Declaring the flick tax-free, the CM posted on his X handle that the government has decided to make the film ‘Sabarmati Report’, which is based on a true incident, tax-free in Odisha. The film shows how Kar Sevaks were burnt alive in the Godhra fire incident to fulfil the vested interests of some people and create instability. This film will bring such a heart-breaking true incident to the people. The common people will become more aware, he stated through X.

Following the government’s announcement, eminent film-maker Ektaa Kapoor expressed gratitude to the chief minister.

“Heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Ji and Government of Odisha for making #TheSabarmatiReport tax-free in the state. This support will help bring the truth of a significant chapter in our history to more people,” she posted on ‘X’.
