Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government revealed today that a total of 83,189 families without homestead land have been identified, out of which 72,191 families have been provided with land pattas.
This information was disclosed by the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister in response to a question by BJD MLA Souvik Biswal in the State Assembly.
According to the minister, a survey conducted in rural areas of the state in 2018 identified 83,189 families without homestead land, with 72,191 families receiving land pattas by August 31. Meanwhile, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department instructed all District Magistrates to conduct a fresh survey to identify homeless families.
The survey, which began on August 6, continued until October 31, 2024. Preliminary data from 30 districts revealed that 44,743 homeless families have been identified in the state. The government aims to provide house land to all eligible houseless families by the end of this year.
