Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Phulbani on Friday convicted Assistant Teacher, In Charge Head Master-cum-School Management Committee Secretary Dukulamila New Primary School, Baliguda Block, in Kandhamal district Bibhu Nandan Keshari Nayak for misappropriation of government money to the tune of Rs 3,00,000 and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment (RI) of four years.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Nayak.
According to an official press release, convict Nayak, who was on unauthorized leave was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c)(d) of PC Act 1988 and 409, 120-B of IPC for misappropriation of Government money of Rs 3,00,000 without executing the work i.e. construction of School building.
Further, Nayak was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence following his sentencing.
The anti-corruption agency will now move the competent authority for Nayak’s dismissal from service following his conviction.
