Malkangiri: A 29-year-old Maoist cadre, Anti Madvi alias Lakey, was arrested by Malkangiri police on Friday.
Madvi, who carries a cash reward of ₹2 lakh on her head, was apprehended in the Kurti jungle under MV-79 police limits while moving suspiciously.
Upon interrogation, Madvi admitted to being a Maoist cadre. She revealed she had come to the area to collect logistics and disclosed further details about her involvement with the Maoist group.
Police confirmed her identity as Anti Madvi, also known as Lakey or Lake, a resident of Pulhar village in Jangla police limits of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. She joined the Maoist ranks in 2017, serving under Sukram, Deputy Commander of Platoon No. 12 of the West Bastar Division. Since 2020, she has been part of the protection team for Maoist leader Uday and carried an SLR weapon.
As a trusted aide to Uday, she was involved in several violent incidents across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh.
“We received intelligence about the suspicious movement of a young woman in the Kurti jungle under MV-79. A police team apprehended her and, during interrogation, she confessed to being a member of Uday’s team. Her identity was verified as Anti Madvi alias Lakey. She is a known Maoist cadre with a bounty of ₹2 lakh announced by the Odisha government,” said Niti Sekhar, DIG of Police, South-Western Range, Koraput, during a press briefing.
